1. How did you get your idea or concept for the business?

From a young age, I always had a natural curiosity in technologies. I would question what was great about them, how and why they were created, how they were engineered…

This led to creating a career pathway into the IT world, starting out as an IT engineer, swiftly leading in to specialising in networks and cyber security.

Having specialised in the field of cyber security and technical sales for the last 8 years, I saw a huge gap in the market that was focusing on SME’s and the timing and opportunity developed into the vision for Connect Digital Security

2. What business mistake do you consider a great lesson?

I don’t tend to like the word “mistake”, I much prefer the outlook and attitude of learning through experience.

3. What was the most important part of your whole business journey?

Understanding where we are unique, and defining strategy that focuses on our strengths and how we position and deliver this to clients.

4. What do you look for in an employee?

Talent comes in different shapes and sizes, and we have a great team. Each member brings something different in their skills and experience which makes us more complete in our combined skills.

The business has gone through different seasons since its inception so we have needed different qualities at different times to reflect that particular point. We have experienced fast growth, and are at an exciting and dynamic phase of the business, the common factor has been in finding people who have an interest to be part of that journey and culture.

5. If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out what would it be?

Focus on a strategy for your business rather than day-to-day operations, if your core business is not in accounts, IT, HR etc then find a strategic partner and outsource these functions.
